SINCERELY JULES INSPIRED CHIC LAIR

Men have caves, we gals should have lairs...the inspiration for this Chic Lair comes from the cool, ladylike style of Julia Sariñana of Sincerely Jules.  Textural greys, classic black leather, sassy leopard, a little bling and denim.  The denim for the drapes would most definitely get a dose of distress.

interior goodness: sexy. sexy. sexy.

It is Tuesday and...the sky is blue and the sun is shining!  With the awesomeness outside, I was able to focus on some awesomeness inside.  Specifically the Upper East Side home of Jackie Astier.  This home is beyond stylish, it is an awe inspiring, super sexy journey into fantasticness...
sooooo squeal worthy!

Shiny brass, smooth lacquer, fur, velvet, grass cloth; a textural dream home.  A balanced mix of decades and centuries.
The thing I love the most about this home is the art, or lack there of? When you dress the walls, either with grass cloth or lacquer, and have such artistic furnishings, a mass quantity of [loud] art is not necessary.

 These walls are luscious!
The kitchen in this super sexy home is nice and simple, but the drum pendant,
that is sexy.

fit food: quinoa salad with asparagus & cha cha cha chia seeds

I had some asparagus I needed to use up, so into a quinoa salad it went...

Quinoa Salad with Asparagus and Chia Seeds

½ bunch asparagus (about 1 C), cut into ½ inch pieces
2 C water (add 2 tsp. of Better Than Bouillon, Chicken when cooking quinoa) or chicken broth
1 C quinoa, rinsed in cold water
1 clove of garlic, crushed
¼ C chia seeds

Dressing

1 ½ T Champagne vinegar
1 ½ T fresh lemon juice
2-3 T extra virgin olive oil
1 clove of garlic, crushed
¼ tsp. red pepper flakes
S & P

In a medium bowl mix all dressing ingredients together.  Bring water/broth to a boil in a 2 quart saucepan and blanch asparagus for 2 minutes.  Remove asparagus from saucepan with strainer and rinse with cold water.  Place asparagus in medium bowl and toss with dressing.

Bring "asparagus" water/broth back to a boil.  Add BTB at this time if broth wasn't used, add rinsed quinoa and crushed garlic, reduce to a simmer and place lid on saucepan.  Cook 12 to 18 minutes, until liquid is gone.

Add quinoa to the bowl with asparagus and dressing as well as the chia seeds.  Toss together.  Eat.  Enjoy!

interior goodness: pretty. sophisticated. happy.

Well it's Tuesday; it's grey, cold, ugly, and snowy, AGAIN!  They, and by they I mean the "weather guessers", are forcasting sunny and 70 on Friday...I will believe it when I sees it.  I was however able to find a bit of sunshine in this stunningly lovely home featured in an old House Beautiful.

A fantastic mix of traditional and contemporary. A cool and clean white shell perfectly accented with brights and pastels.  An exceptional example of easy living glam.

emerald, 2 ways...

I did a fashion style board earlier, but it did not make me squeal, so back to the creating board I went.  Now my idea of emerald is a bit different than that of Pantone's.  Maybe it's the fact that I am dying for spring, but emerald to me is bright and cheery, with more of a yellow tint; Pantone's is decidedly more blue.  Sure, I am just a girl with a serious fondness for green, not the Wizard of Color like Pantone, but I think both versions are wickedly stunning...

love it, live it: fashion inspired interior style board

I swear Ms. Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific could wear a burlap sack and style it as if it was Chanel.  This week's board was inspired by her "Ombre" ensemble.  A shock of pink, followed by deep saturated violet blending into plums and corals.  This office/studio would definitely get the creative juices flowing.

interior goodness: cozy. hip. classic.

Old man winter reared his cold, gray, miserable head again yesterday, a frequent occurance here over the past few weeks.  I know, I know, it is still winter, but I have a spring fever somethin fierce!  Luckily this home designed by Tome Scherer, featured in a past House Beautiful, chased my winter blues aways with a fury...

first of all, the bones of this home are spectacular, look at that ceiling!

This kitchen, oh my this kitchen...the wall tiles are just dreamy!

Oh, okay, if I am not in the kitchen, you would most likely find me here!
