love it, live it: beachy mod bedroom

Mother Nature has been rather unpredictable here in Colorado lately, so when I saw this turquoise headboard, I was immediately inspired and transported.

high, med, low: stylish lighting upgrades

Sometimes a room just needs a style tweak, and my favorite styling tweak is with a ceiling light, chandi, pendent, etc., they are like earrings to an ootd.  I selected four different styles at three different price points: crystal, organic orbs, brass and some "pretty" brass w/crystal.

 Anthro, Chairish, High Fashion Home

Anthro, Shades of Light, Shades of Light

 Anthro, Shades of Light, CB2

Anthro, West Elm, PBTeen

These stylish fixtures can be used in an entry, dining, kitchen, or living space as well as in a bedroom or bathroom, even a utility room if you are so inclined!

love it, live it: "pink", sexy, kitchen

Yes, another sexy kitchen.  While it was inspired by the latest "pink" color post, it by no means is bubble gum pink.  Save for the onyx, lapis, malachite granite slab I saw at the Blue Whale back in school, I will do what I can to NOT use granite it in a home.  There are so many surface options available.  So many that add some serious POW to a home, that granite is a complete second thought, actually make that a fourth thought.

color stories: part 1, red

Red is...passion, danger, excitement, drama, power, heat, love, happiness...it is something different from person to person.  Diana Vreeland had a red room, Christian Louboutin shoes have a signature red sole, and the red stripes on our American flag stand for courage.

I like red.  It is not my favorite color.  Or is it?  I adore coral, melon, and salmon which in fact are members of the red family.  I have very little red in my home, but the pop of red I do have is small, but sexy; Georgia O'Keeffe "At The Rodeo".

I put together below, a few "pops" of red to add to a home.  From modern to beachy, fun to fabulous; a little goes a long way.

Two of my favorite color stories:
White, Black, Red, and Turquoise
and
White, Navy, Green and Coral.

the fashionable home: fur

With my recent move, I was excited to change up my decor a bit.  I didn't really purchase anything new (more on this later), except some black lacquer spray, some assorted fabrics and a few yards of faux fur from Jo Ann's.  Faux, and not faux, fur isn't just a winter fashion staple, it is now a home fashion must have as well.  Fur accessories add texture and warmth, as well as a touch of luxe.

My pillow...about $5.00

My ottoman...about $9.00

I was going to make a rug out of this piece, but I decided to throw it on the bed...
Manco approves.

love it, live it: man room, inspired by men with beards

In this man room, you will not find a reclining sofa, as a matter of fact you will not find a reclining anything.  I have secretly replaced reclining things with ottoman's covered in hide.  The media unit provides ample space for media things and cool guy stuff.  The lighting is speakeasy'ish in an updated modern version.
A little rugged.  A little playful.  A little gentlemanly.  Beards welcome.

love it, live it: neutral contempo dining room

I was inspired by a photo I took on Monday during my run, a pretty white "poppy weed".  The photo is black and white, mostly grey, but I wanted to add a touch of neutrality with the table and rug to make the room more warm, and to represent the grass behind the flower.
