With my recent move, I was excited to change up my decor a bit.  I didn't really purchase anything new (more on this later), except some black lacquer spray, some assorted fabrics and a few yards of faux fur from Jo Ann's.  Faux, and not faux, fur isn't just a winter fashion staple, it is now a home fashion must have as well.  Fur accessories add texture and warmth, as well as a touch of luxe.

I was cruising my favorite furniture sites for new pieces and I came across the fabulous Stella Metal Bed from West Elm.  The spindle design may be traditional, but the brass finish definitely injects a bit of mod glam.  This bedroom is glammishly serene with its texture, clean lines and a clean color palette.

I squealed with delight when I first saw the CB2 Alchemy Shiny Brass Bed; it's clean lined, retro and glam.  Following in my belief that a master bedroom should be simple and sexy with texture, this one hits on all points.  I chose a deep and rich matte paint, one that will enhance the shine of the furnishings, NOT compete.

Our spring here in Colorado has been interrupted by winter, I went from

sunscreen and sandals to a puffer and Wellies...so this lovely Manhattan apartment created by Amanda Nisbet was a very welcome distraction.

 

The style is transitional with a melding of traditional and contemporary,

but the color story is the definite star.

 

Great unexpected kitchen lighting.

I could spend all day in this powder room.

a few of my favorite...spaces, lonny 2013

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays and another year coming to a close, my mind tends to shut down on the present and starts to focus on the future.  In order to get ready for the new year, I take with me the good while putting the bad and ugly to bed.  I will take with me into 2014 the things that mattered; lessons learned (personal and professional), dreams to work on, making my life "the good life", and Frank Sinatra in my ear telling me "The Best is yet to Come".
